Welcome to the Hartzell Linguistic Services (HLS) website. My name is Jim Hartzell and, besides being the founder of HLS, I'm the webmaster of the English version of the site. (The Polish version has a webmistress, Anna Kołodziejska). This site is multi-faceted, so at the risk of sounding condescending, I’ll offer a few guidelines that might be of some use as you browse. If what follows is overly pedantic, just skip it and move on to browsing.

In the first place, HLS offers an array of services to both individuals and institutions. These are are described briefly in the lead article above, and in detail in the top four categories of the Left menu.  Key words (click to link): translation, editing, consultancy, professional education, business, law, EU, writing, history.

In addition, the site contains a creative aspect, reflected in the 'Non-fiction' and ‘Creative writing’links, which are placed in the lower menu to keep them separate from the HLS activities proper . This combination of personal and professional reflects the fact that one’s personal cognitive experiences cannot be separated from one’s professional work. I suppose it reflects on the intangible ‘character’ issue as well.   

As regards the formal aspects of the site, the main (top) menu is similar to most sites and self-explanatory. The sidebar constitutes the essence of the site. The first four categories of the Left menu contain detailed descriptions and samples of the services and materials available through HLS. The next category offers insights into issues related to American, European, and global policies, since these permeate the majority of HLS's services and will be reflected in our outcomes. The final category in the Left menu explains how to submit a request, commission, or query.

We heartily invite you to visit the site regularly and watch it expand. Even better, send us your comments and suggestions so we can build up the site taking into account your needs and wishes. HLS aims to be interactive with both clients and site users before, during, and after collaboration. Our standard is customized signature service.
